Library Policies

Details about an individual's use of the library and its resources is generally treated as confidential, but may be considered work product and therefore may be disclosed to other CMH personnel in the interests of collaboration, patient safety, quality improvement, etc.

Library Services strives to maintain confidentiality by protecting all records which link the user's name to library use, while maintaining appropriate records for library operations.

The following records are considered confidential:

  • User registration records (not kept for patients' families)
  • Circulation records (purged once items are returned)
  • Search requests and search logs (potentially work product)
  • Search results for patients' families (always confidential)
  • Interlibrary loan requests and records
